Main point: We live well and leave a legacy when we encounter God’s grace, experience His word and respond in brave and loyal service. Introduction: 1. Encountering God’s Grace (vv1; 5) 2. Experiencing God’s Word (vv1-2) 3. Responding in Brave and Loyal Service (vv8-12) Reflection: * Is there an area where you have not repented or obeyed wholeheartedly? Pray for the strength to submit, repent and obey. * What would a brave and loyal service to God look like in your life?

How Do I Live without You?

Main idea: Invite God to build our lives with us. Introduction 1. Invite God to be at the centre of our activities in life (v1) 2. Trust God to give us rest (v2) 3. Depend on God to build and bless our family (vv 3 – 5) Reflections / Application: • In what way have you left God out of the equation of your life? Invite Him in. • If your anxious toil is affecting your wellbeing, search deeper and ask God to grant you rest. • Hug your child(ren) for 10 seconds today.

The Conequences of Sin

Main point: There are massive consequences to sin. 1.The story in its context: * Scene 1: Ammon violated Tamar * Scene 2: Absalom murdered Ammon * Scene 3: Absalom usurp David’s throne. David flees in shame. * Scene 4: Absalom murdered 2. Sin has massive and devastating consequences. * Watch out for complacency. * Watch out for what we are looking at 3. Repentance and God’s grace Reflection: * What are some safeguards I need to set in place to prevent sin?

Nathan : The middle man who trapped sin Reflection What is your secret sin that has hindered you from being of service to the Lord? Instead of covering up, find a ‘Nathan’ in your life to confess your sin. Is the Lord bringing someone who is trapped in their sin to mind? How could you be like Nathan who confronted sin in love and honesty?

Grieving Well
2 Samuel 1
Main point: It is normal, natural and necessary to grieve in times of loss There is a time to grieve We can process grief by penning down our thoughts and feelings It is normal, natural and necessary to grieve We can grieve with hope Comforting someone in grief: Being present and available Allow for a safe space to express doubts and questions Don’t ignore the “lesser” forms of grief Pray Reflection: Are you grieving over the loss of someone or a painful situation? Pen down your thoughts and feelings. Ask the Holy Spirit to comfort and give you peace. Who is someone the Lord brings to mind to comfort and care for this coming week?
