Main Point: God’s purpose for families is to follow Him faithfully and enjoy His blessings. 1. The motivation to follow God faithfully (vv13-16): - God wants to bless families with His goodness - Idolatry can turn us away from God 2. God’s method to build the family’s faith (vv18-19): - We build our children’s faith by building ours. - God’s method to teach children is through discipleship within the family. 3. God will bless families as we follow Him faithfully (vv21-23) Reflection: – What can i do to build my faith? – What steps can I take to build my family’s faith? – How can I support my parents to build the faith of the family?

1. We can trust God in battles for His purpose. (vv1-8) 2. God fights on our behalf for His purpose (vv9-11) 3. God responds to extraordinary prayers for His purpose (vv12-15) Application: What are the battles in your life now where you need to pray in faith? Pray specifically, ask for the “impossible”.

Main Point: God works powerfully for His people but will not tolerate evil yet show mercy to the repentant. 1. God works powerfully for His people. - The encounter with the Commander and the assurance of God’s presence. - The promise of God’s word (6:2) - The fall of Jericho. 2. The justice of God against His enemies. - The command to ‘devote to destruction’ - The evil practices in the land (Deut 18:10-12; Deut 9:4-5) - The patience of God in dealing with sin 3. The undeserved kindness of God for the repentant. Reflection: What do the power and the holiness of God mean to you personally?

Main Idea: Remembering and recounting God’s powerful rescue in our lives to the next generation and others might know Him. 1. Teaching Stones 2. Memorial Stones 3. Main Point: Fix your eyes on God, and He will lead you on “dry ground”. 1. The River Before Us 2. Fix your eyes on God 3. Responding with Consecration (vv 5-6) - A new beginning with God - Forgiveness through confession and repentance - A Living Sacrifice 4. Our Human Responsibility (vv7-13)

Main Point: A vibrant church is one which devotes itself to a common love for God’s word, worship and for one another. 1. A Common Love for God’s Word 2. A Common Love for Worship - Breaking of bread - Prayer 3. A Common Love for One Another Reflection: *Which area (Word, Worship, Fellowship) is God prompting me to show more devotion?
