The New Normal
Matthew 9:9-38
Main Idea: Jesus wants us to follow his way of doing mission work to bring about powerful transformation in our lives and the lives of others in the world. Focus: Follow Jesus’ way of doing mission work (Matt 9:35-38) 1. To Teach God’s Word, proclaim the gospel and heal the broken (Matt 9:35) 2. To be compassionate towards the people in need (Matt 9:36) 3. To pray earnestly to God to send workers to His mission field (Matt 9:38) Select one challenge and respond to God. - Would we be that labourer to go where Jesus calls us to go? - Would we ask God for one mission field? - Would we pray to God to send us (me) to His mission field?

Godliness With Contentment Is Great Gain
1 Timothy 6:6-16
Main Point: persevere in godliness with contentment because of the surpassing riches we have in Christ Introduction * The issue in Ephesus – making money out of ministry 1. Godliness with Contentment is Great Gain (vv6-10) A. Contentment is a great gain because we cannot take anything with us when we die (v7) B. Contentment is a great gain because it prevents us from ruining ourselves (vv9-10) C. Be careful of the love of money. Application: * Change of mindset – satisfied with the essentials * Trust in God – I can do all things through Him who strengthens me (Philippians 4:!3) 2. The Call to Persevere in Godliness with Contentment (vv11-16) A. The strategy to a life of godliness with contentment: flee, pursue, fight, take hold (vv11-12) B. The impetus to persevere in godliness with contentment (vv12-16) * The call to eternal life * Jesus hold fast to the good confession for us * The appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ * Jesus is the King of kings and Lord of lords.

Find someone you trust to examine your spiritual health with this checklist: – Speech – Conduct – Love – Faith – Purity 2. Consider the areas of your life that require training for the purpose of godliness.

The Qualities of Biblical Leadership

A. It is good to aspire to be a church leader because it is a worthwhile work for the Lord. B. The Qualities of an Overseer/Elder - Above reproach - Marital fidelity – “husband of one wife.” - Sober-minded, self-controlled, - Able to teach - “manage his own household well.” C. The Qualities of a Deacon - Deacons “likewise” – having the same qualities as Elders - Must be tested. - Wives or Deaconess? Application - Character first - Require effort and self-discipline. - Dependence on God (2 Corinthians 12:9)
