    The Resurrection Hope

    1 Corinthians 15:1-8; 35-49

    Main Point: Jesus’ resurrection points towards our resurrection in the body. Introduction 1. Jesus’ resurrection in the body is a historical fact based on eye-witnesses’ accounts (vv5-8) 2. Jesus’ resurrection points towards our resurrection in the body. - Jesus’ resurrection is the “firstfruits” of bodily resurrection (vv20-22). - Death is dead (vv54-55). 3. The characteristics of our resurrected body (vv42-44). - “Imperishable” - “In glory” - “raised in power” - “raised a spiritual body” Application: Our work for the Lord is not in vain (v58). Reflection: – Since the resurrection is true, what’s stopping you from trusting Jesus? – Do you have a great longing for the future resurrection? Why or why not? – What would “be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord,” look like in your life?

    Live Generously and Share the Gospel

    Luke 16:19-31

    Main Point: The reality of eternal judgment calls us to live generously and share the Good News. 1. The Story - The contrast in earthly life. - the common denominator – Death. - The reversal in the afterlife. 2. Live Generously 3. The Unbridged Chasm in the Afterlife - God’s Word is sufficient to respond to the gospel now - Share the Gospel - The chasm can never be crossed. - One must hear the word to be saved. Reflection: – Which aspect of the afterlife conversation (Luke 16:19-31) stands out to you? – How can I live more generously today?

We can be ready for Christ’s return - Living faithfully and wisely (1 Peter 4:7) - Serving the Lord with our gifts and talent (1 Peter 4:8-11) Reflection: - Are you ready for Christ’s return today? What situations or areas in life would you want to put in order before he returns. - What does it look like to live as a faithful and wise steward while we await Christ’s return?
