Main Point: We can celebrate Christmas because God’s purpose will prevail in our lives despite the difficulties and uncertainties. Introduction * An uncertain and challenging year. A. A threat to thwart God’s purpose - Herod’s response to Christmas – Destroy Jesus. - Is there a Herod in us? B. God’s purposes will prevail amidst the threat. - God guides and protects us through difficult times. - God will fulfil His purposes in our lives amidst uncertain times.

Main Idea: We celebrate Christmas because it reminds us of the coming of the Promised One, Jesus Christ, God with us. 1. Christmas 2. The Coming of the Promised One 3. God is with Us Reflection: How can you celebrate Christmas differently this year? How can “God with us” be manifested through your life today?

Main point: We are God’s tabernacle which reflects His presence and glory to the world by the way we live. 1. God’s glory is in His transcendence (distinct from creation) 2. God’s glory is in His immanence (near His people) 3. We reflect God’s glory through acts of love and deeds - The Word became flesh. Jesus dwelt with us. - Our bodies are the temple of God reflecting His glory

Main Point: God’s glory is in His goodness and character, and that calls for a response of worship. 1. The glory of God is seen in God’s power and majesty 2. The glory of God is seen in His attributes: - Merciful / Compassionate - Gracious - Slow to anger - Keeping steadfast love for thousands - Forgiving – iniquity, transgression and sin - Not clearing the guilty 3. Our response to the glory of God - Worship - Bearing fruit in character - Bearing fruit in sharing the gospel Reflection: - How would bearing the fruit of the Spirit look like in your workplace, school and at home? - How will I glorify God this coming week?
