    I. The Treachery of Abimelech II. The infidelity of Israel III. The justice of God Conclusion: - Power can never satisfy the vacuum in our hearts. If one greedily pursues more of it, it will only lead to destruction and condemnation. - What/Who shall satisfy us fully?

    Less is More

    Judges 7:1-18

    Main Point: having less may help us see more of God’s power in our lives. Introduction. 1. An overwhelming situation (vv 7:1-2; 12) 2. God sometimes reduces our resources so that we depend on Him (vv2-8) - If Israel (or we) is to experience God, then what she needs is less, not more. 3. God’s assurance in an overwhelming situation (vv9-14) - God encourage us with His promise - God may assure us with His sign Application: - How can we maintain a balance between depending on God and relying on our resources? - In what areas in our lives can we contented and grateful to God? - If God asks you to surrender an aspect of your life that seems to go against your logic, what are ways to discern this call?

    Main Point: We can respond to God’s calling because His presence and promise go with us. Introduction 1. A Dire Situation (vv1-6) 2. The Truth in Love (vv7-10) 3. The Call to Serve as a “Mighty Man of Valour” (v14) 4. “Good” Reasons Not to Serve (v15) 5. God’s Commitment (v16): A. God promised His presence B. God promised His might Reflection: – What is an area of gifting or potential others have affirmed you? – Has the Lord planted a calling to serve Him in a specific capacity? Talk to a church leader about it. – What is a gifting/potential (song leader, teacher, musician, leader etc.) you observe in a brother or sister? Affirm the person of your potential and pray for the person to serve the Lord in that area.
